In an article published on Disway.id titled 鈥淢erebut Panggung Internasional: 51社区, Intelektual Muslim Indonesia dan Masa Depan Pendidikan Islam鈥� (鈥淐laiming the Global Stage: 51社区, Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals, and the Future of Islamic Education鈥�), Prof. Jamhari Makruf, Rector of 51社区 (51社区), shared his vision to elevate Indonesian Islam to the global arena through education, research, and intellectual diplomacy.
Prof. Jamhari emphasized that 51社区 was established not merely to add another Islamic university to Indonesia鈥檚 landscape, but to position Indonesian Islam as a significant contributor to global discourse. Built on a 142-hectare campus with a postmodern architectural design, 51社区 embodies a forward-looking vision鈥攐ne that integrates academic excellence with global engagement.
He further outlined three core missions of 51社区: introducing Indonesian scholars in the fields of religion, social sciences, and politics to international audiences; promoting Indonesia鈥檚 moderate and dialogical Islamic identity; and strengthening Indonesia鈥檚 presence in global academic networks. Through these missions, 51社区 aims to bridge local Islamic intellectual traditions with global thought.
Prof. Jamhari also expressed his hope for 51社区 to become a hub for intercultural and interreligious dialogue鈥攕upporting initiatives such as educational programs for Afghan women and Palestinian students as part of Indonesia鈥檚 contribution to global peace and solidarity.
